Project Overview
Integrating a personalized AI to fitness app to offer tailored workout plans according to user's health data.
As part of a boot camp learning opportunity, I was tasked with designing and integrating the new AI feature into the existing application.


PROBLEM
Despite the wealth of data available through wearable devices, users often struggle to interpret the information beyond simple progress tracking. Addressing this challenge requires designing interfaces that encourage mindful interaction, prioritize digital health, and incorporate features supporting user engagement and well-being. What if we utilized Artificial Intelligence to convert this data into actionable insights, empowering users to comprehend and attain their fitness objectives more effectively?
Reflecting
Through this project, I gained invaluable insights into strengthening existing frameworks and seamlessly incorporating new features to enhance the overall user experience. Drawing on my expertise in color theory, I carefully selected hues that embodied the Vibrant and Relaxed Fittz, while ensuring compliance with WCAG contrast standards. The skills I refined during this process improved my ability to fine-tune and optimize applications, leading to greater functionality and user satisfaction. I also learned the importance of moderation in my design approach, avoiding excessive changes to preserve the brand identity that users already love.

Notably, during the discovery phase, the need to establish a seamless flow for "pairing with a third-party app" was highlighted, emphasizing the importance of integrating with external fitness applications smoothly.

Identifying Core Product Experiences
USER Stories
The user stories played a vital role in grasping and aligning with the users' requirements and anticipations
— thereby improving the app. These narratives provided a basis for recognizing essential elements and functionalities required to enhance the app's overall user experience.

As a user, I want to select a workout based on AI recommendations so I can adapt by health data.

As a user, I want to pair my new Oura Ring with Raring Trainer so I can import the data from Oura and recieve custom daily recommendations based on my health data.

I created user flows to visualize how users would navigate the app and complete key tasks. These flows became essential in guiding the design and development process, ensuring intuitive user interactions and seamless task completion.



VISUAL IDENTITY
Updated current the style guide by adding additional cohesive colors for the AI pairing mode, Vibrant Fittz and Relaxed Fittz.


FINAL DESIGNS
Throughout the design phase, my primary focus was developing and refining components within the design system to ensure consistency and scalability across our platform. One significant aspect of this effort involved the creation of "AI User Flows" aimed at enhancing user interactions with AI recommendations, thereby facilitating a seamless and customized workout journey for our users. This involved careful consideration of visual elements, ensuring that the new feature harmonized with the overall design language. The successful implementation of "Pair with a Third-Party App" contributed to the app's versatility and user satisfaction.
My main challenge was identifying effective methods for personalizing user sessions while prioritizing clarity to minimize confusion and optimize time usage. This entailed not just designing intuitive user interfaces but also delving into the underlying algorithms to guarantee that recommendations were personalized, relevant, and timely for each user. By tackling these challenges, I developed a design that not only fulfilled user needs but also aligned with our goal of delivering a user-friendly and efficient experience.
